Introduction to Tableau

Tableau is a powerful data visualization tool used in the Business Intelligence Industry. It helps in simplifying raw data into a very easily understandable format. Data analysis is very fast with Tableau and the visualizations created are in the form of dashboards and worksheets.

In order to use the features of Tableau Views with Tonkean, you will need to connect the two systems together. You can do so by simply logging in with your normal Tableau username and password and providing the URL of your Tableau Views instance.

  1. Go to Data Sources
  2. Add Data Source
  3. Type “Tableau” and select it
  4. Enter your Tableau credentials and URI and click Connect
  5. Select all of the entities you want Tonkean to sync and click ok
Logging into Tableau

When connecting to Tableau Views with a user’s account, it’s important to note that all of the permissions are mimicked in Tonkean. Be sure that the account you connect represents all the necessary actions your automation needs, while being mindful of not giving Tonkean more access to Tableau than it needs to complete your process.
